My Absolute Favorite Piece of Fitness Equipment! Its Not What You Think
My Absolute Favorite Piece of Fitness Equipment! Its Not What You Think

My favorite, absolute, must-have when I goto the gym ? It’s my little notebook! My little notebook is probably my best , most utilized healthy habit tool. I write down meals, grocery lists and of course my workouts!
I keep this in my gym bag so anytime I am at the gym I have a plan and that feels to me like all the support I need.
Going to the gym when you’re not used to it can be intimidating.
It looks like everyone there knows what they’re doing and it feels like it is obvious you are a straight up newb! I definitely felt this way when I first started too.
In fact, when I was 15 and powerlifting with my brothers and my dad it was at a gym in Lake George Village that had almost no one there. It was a club more so than a big box gym.
Anyways, i was also going to the Y but i wasn’t in the fitness center, nooooo. I was running outside then popping into pulses class with my mama.
Then I got used to going to the gym more and met my now fiancé Zack who worked out at the gym. I stared going with him.
Maybe you’re sensing a theme now?
I had a support system! Each and every time I was getting introduced to a new wave of fitness I had someone to share the moment with.
My first bench press over 100 #, hit that with my broskis!
Going to fitness classes, I was with my mom.
Stepping foot into th fitness center with all the free weights and barbells ?! Zack was there.
But eventually I ventured on my own. My inner self confidence grew and my internal motivation to workout was so high that I began going to the gym on my own. I started a 12 week workout program that laid out 3 phases, broken up into 4 weeks.
I was ALL IN !
And at that time I didn’t have the same support but it was okay because I began relying on myself and my little notebook, lol.
That said, to this day I still prefer going into the gym to do my own workout but I love all forms of fitness! Group fitness classes are SO fun and have a built in support system. I now teach group fitness classes and try my best to introduce new moves to people and instruct them with the correct form.
When I’m working it on my own though, i don’t have a me instructing the correct moves and honesty without my little notebook I would be so la-dee-dah in the gym 😂
My little notebook is probably my best , most utilized healthy habit tool. I write down meals, grocery lists and of course my workouts!
I keep this in my gym bag so anytime I am at the gym I have a plan and that feels to me like all the support I need.
So here is what I do:
I write the date and day of the week in the headline.
I write down my meal template: breakfast mid am lunch mid pm and dinner.
Then i write Workout: and plug in whatever workout I’m doing that day.
I write the workout plan!
Sometimes i will write at the top a full preview of my week! Since I take Fridays as a rest day I usually begin my workout week on a Saturday so the preview reads Saturday to Friday!
Now get his, i have been doing this since 2012!!
That’s about 9 little notebooks that yes I still have! I love having these documents and you know it’s pretty shocking how much stronger I’ve gotten and also, more varied in my nutrition.
I would love to someday compile all of these workouts and maybe create my
Own 12 week program. I know there are already SO many out there but I still find myself wanting to follow a plan and creating it!
Would you be interested in that? Let me know in the comments!
Next up: the 5 things I always carry in my gym bag! Yes my little notebook is 1 ;-)
