Most of days are spent working on the computer creating content for good-for-the-planet brands, writing meal plans for clients, or coaching people. I don't have to ever dress anyway I don't want and I love it! I prefer to wear workout clothes because they are comfortable, stylish and when I get a free block I want to be ready for the gym!
Wearing activewear or "athleisure" clothing most of the time still is very my style. With Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale right around the corner I wanted to round up my fitness fashion faves. I cannot wait to restock my workout wardrobe!
I wore workout clothes all of the time growing up well before it was the norm. I'm not kidding. I'm talking about the days when stores had nothing but a tiny sliver of workout clothes in their women's section. It wasn't anything like the activewear explosion it is today.
During my undergraduate days this wasn't really directed at me in the beginning but I ended up being used as an example ( a good one , but still). When I was in college I wore workout clothes all of the time. I wore them to and form class which sound normal for most people. In dietetics though, there is a competitive, type A nature among the students and a lot of adults returning to school.
We were graded on professionalism every semester and part of professionalism was attire. My professor addressed the class because she heard through the grapevine that students were nervous about getting graded on their outfits she let us know "we are not judging your outfits when you come to class". Then she pointed at me and said "if you want to wear workout clothes like Monica that is fine!" I was like oh shit, is this bad? She continued to say it's not a big deal. phew!
When Dietetic Internship time rolled around I had to stock up on business casual attire. I needed hospital appropriate clothes and nice professional outfits for presentations.
These days when I go on a date, to a concert or do a nutrition segment on TV I wear something dressy.
But in the down time, I still resort to my preferred uniform (lol). Sneakers, workout pants, sports bra, top and hoodie :)!
